AER001 - Emergency Relief Flight Report (Part II)
Route: Bethel (PABE) → Anchorage (PANC)
Aircraft: Beechcraft King Air C90B
Time: 08:40 – 10:24 AKDT
After a busy day at Bethel I took off today at 08:40 AKDT for the second leg of the AER25 mission, continuing the evacuation and supply chain effort sparked by the Halong aftermath.
Onboard were two medical evacuees, a nurse, and several sealed containers of blood plasma, antibiotics, and field equipment requested by emergency teams operating in the Yukon–Kuskokwim Delta.
In a stark contrast with the events the day looked great as I climb-out from Bethel; then turbulence reported up to 6,000 feet. The King Air handled the weather steadily, cruising above the first cloud layer for most of the route.
About 30 miles out from Anchorage, the overcast broke, revealing the snow-capped Chugach Range under light blue morning skies!
Landing at Anchorage International (PANC) was smooth (I'm looving the King Air!), with local emergency handlers already in place at the ramp!
By 10:24 AKDT, engines were shut down, cargo was transferred to ground crews, and the evacuees were safely moved to hospital transport.
Feels great to be able to participate in this whole rescuing effort!
