RTE - VFR PATK PAUO
WX - PAUO 241905Z 35501KT 4SM -RA OVC54 OVC90 15/7 A2991
RMKS - MAIL SVC 0 PASSENGERS / 35 LBS CARGO. DST 35 NM, LDG RATE -151 FPM. BLK FUEL 18 LBS.

Departed at dawn Talkeetna with mail onboard, heading South along the Sustina River in the Mat-Su Valley.  It was overcast and rainy departure - standard Bush Pilot Flying, flying on a wing and prayer... Passed over the Sustina River Bridge and spotted the Kashwitna River. Turned toward Willow after locating the 109 Mile Creek, overflying Kashwitna Lake. Parks Highway was spotted on approach to Willow. Flew the downwind leg over Willow Lake, landing to the North.  Mail delivered. Overcast skies preventing seeing any mountainous areas. It was a rainy throughout the flight, definitely an IFR day "I Follow Rivers (or Roads)..." Flown using FS8.

Great job, Tim!
You may log preflight checks to shutdown! I suppose those 22 where direct - and at a good pace.
Are you using any kind of real weather on FS8? Is it still available or are you entering data by hand?

Great reminder of the old IFR quote  Big Grin Cool

JP,

I use ActiveSky wxRE. I have a complete year of METAR, TAF, and WMO data which I have coded to update FS8 or FS9 on command, by the day. I can also download METAR and TAF from NOAA when I desired. WMO data is no longer available from NOAA (format changed, so I use old WMO data with the latest METAR and TAF).

I have FS Global Real Weather for FS9 and FSX (if I desire to use it).
Very respectfully,
