I got a call from Dave (I know him IRL) over at the Alaska Beagle Ranck in Wasilla.  Dave is partnering with another animal rescue group to evacuate dogs from the flooded village of Kipnuk and they needed a Caravan to transport the dogs.  I told him that we could help out.  He met me over at PANC, we loaded the C208 with empty dog crates and headed to Kipnuk.  We flew out there via the SQA and BET VORs and the flight took us 2 hours and 54 minutes.  Fortunately, we were able to land at Kipnuk.  We off loaded the crates and with help from the other rescue group, we loaded a dog in each crate and re-loaded the plane.  We used more fuel than I had anticipated getting out there so it is a good thing that I had loaded 6 five gallon cans of fuel in the cargo pod so we had a little extra fuel to add to the tanks for the return flight.  We made the return flight to PANC via the BET and SQA VORs and the flight took 2 hours and 18 minutes.

NOTE:  Due to an error on my part, I lost all of my screenshots except for the last one which is the landing back at PANC.  Sorry for the lack of pics.

AER002 – Supply Flight Report
Route: Bethel (PABE) → Kwigillingok (PAGG)
Aircraft: De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver
Time: 09:40 – 10:22 AKDT

Departed Bethel under perfect skies for the short hop to Kwigillingok, carrying essential supplies and medical gear for ongoing relief operations.
The morning sun sat low on the horizon — beautiful, but blinding on climb-out and almost to final approach!
Winds were calm, visibility unlimited, and the flight ran smooth from start to finish.
Touchdown after 42 minutes on a dry runway, for a change!

The first supply run of the day — and proof that even after the storm, Alaska’s blue skies can still take your breath away.

Oh man, ... and this Beaver!  Heart

AER001 – Emergency Relief Flight Report
Route: Kipnuk (PFKI) → Bethel (PABE)
Aircraft: Beechcraft King Air C90B

Time: 08:00 – 08:41 AKDT (Alaska Daylight Time UTC – 8)

After a long night of coordination, our first AER25 relief mission finally lifted off from Kipnuk, one of the coastal communities hit hardest by the remnants of Typhoon Halong.

I took off from PFKI at 08:00 carrying medical staff, emergency supplies, and two injured residents needing transfer to the regional hospital in Bethel.
The airstrip at Kipnuk showed clear signs of flooding, the kind of field where every takeoff feels like rolling dice!
Once airborne, the view revealed the storm’s trail: scattered debris, flooded tundra, and faint traces of the shoreline nearly erased by the surge.

Approach into Bethel was calm by comparison, though the tower reported high traffic from multiple rescue and supply flights.
At 08:41 local time, engines shut down, an Alaskan Winds aircraft completing a sortie in the Halong Relief Operations.

Every pound of cargo today meant a few more hours of heat, light, or hope somewhere out there in the Delta.
And this was only the beginning!

Just a quick personal flight from Merrill Field to Hope and back.

IRL…I’m traveling and don’t have a flight sim computer so this was an experiment to see if I could use X-Plane on my iPad and complete the whole process on my iPad.

Greetings Eagles!

Assignment came up last minute, a simple hop to put a little extra cash into the company books  Big Grin
Piper Super Cub PA-18, just me and one passenger, light bags. Couldn’t ask for a better excuse to stretch the Cub’s legs.

We pushed off from CKU Cordova Municipal at 1834 local, the light starting to paint the Sound in gold.
Passenger was a local fisherman heading over to Valdez, talkative on the ramp but quickly settled once the little Cub lifted off.

En route, I made a planned stop at PAKA Tatitlek; short quiet strip, over Prince William Sound.
Passenger stretched his legs while I topped fuel and checked the Cub over. Everything looked good, so we were rolling again in no time!

The short hop across the water toward PAVD Valdez was pure magic - I always loved this area and the approach to Valdez!  Heart
The mountains to the north rising steep, water like glass - pure late-day Alaska.
Dropped into Valdez smooth, tied her down, and handed over one satisfied passenger who already had friends waiting at the ramp.
A small job, but money in the log for the company and another evening in Alaska that I’ll remember long after the ink dries.  Wink

This is my pirep for the flight I grabbed off the flight board - FBF009 - Spare Parts - Fairbanks to Chena Hot Springs to Fort Yukon then back to Fairbanks.

I loaded up the first batch of spare parts at the Alaskan Winds hanger in Fairbanks (just fit in the trusty Cessna) and lit off for Chena Hot Springs.

Hi guys!

Here's my Sunday flight, relaxing and sightseeing, exploring the cockpit;
Anchorage PANC to Cordova CKU
Going East over Turnagain Air and climbing above Chugach State Park; then followed Prince William Sound and a flyby over Hawkins Island.
Turning back to Eyak Lake for the approach to rwy 27.
I'm on my way to grab a nice cup of coffee at this wonderful place!
